Armed suspect arrested with arrest warrant after police foot chase

An Oklahoma City Police Department officer arrested an armed suspect on a felony warrant after the suspect led the officer on a foot chase.

The OCPD said the suspect, Jordy Cifuentes-Hernandez, had been arrested violently before and posted the body camera footage on Facebook. The pursuit ended in a fight for the officer’s life.

According to the post, the suspect’s previous violent arrests included possession of weapons, evading arrest, domestic violence, abuse in the presence of a minor and fleeing from police.

The posted video shows Officer Michaela Werner stopping a vehicle registered to Cifuentes-Hernandez near Southeast 44th Street and Bryant Avenue on June 30.

There were three people in the vehicle. According to police, a male passenger got out immediately.

A second male passenger, later identified as Cifuentes-Hernandez, grabbed a backpack and ran.

A foot chase began and OCPD said the suspect did not comply with the officer’s command and struggled with the officer while attempting to reach into the backpack, where a loaded firearm was later found.

After about two minutes of fighting and wrangling over the loaded gun in the backpack, additional OCPD officers arrived and assisted in the arrest of Cifuentes-Hernandez.

According to OCPD, he was arrested due to several new complaints.
