Ground stop made at airport amid storms

A ground stop was made at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as storms moved through metro Atlanta Thursday morning, bringing widespread rain, thunder and lightning and triggering a tornado watch.

The ground stop is expected to take place at 12:45 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration. This does not affect departures from Atlanta, only departures from other airports to Atlanta. There were several delays, but only three cancellations, according to FlightAware.
