25-year veteran of Little Rock Fire Department dies in off-duty accident | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

According to a Facebook post by the Little Rock Fire Department, Captain Robert Hild died Sunday morning.

Fire Chief Jason Weaver confirmed that Hild’s death was the result of an off-duty car accident.

Weaver said Hild’s wife notified the department of Hild’s death around 3 a.m. Sunday.

According to the department’s Facebook post, Hild, who was assigned to Fire Station No. 9, had been with the department for 25 years.

Little Rock Fire Fighters Local 34, the Little Rock chapter of the International Association of Fire Fighters union, called Hild a “wonderful husband and father and a great friend to many” in a Facebook post published Sunday afternoon.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends. He will be missed by all of us. We’ll take it from here, Captain,” the post said.

According to Weaver, Little Rock Fire Chief Delphone Hubbard visited Hild’s family.

“They’re still trying to comfort the family and see what the department can do for them,” Weaver said.

There was no further comment from the fire department until Sunday afternoon.
