Woman arrested after attack on three police officers in Mesa on Saturday night

MESA, AZ – A woman is in custody after allegedly attacking three Mesa police officers Saturday night.

According to Mesa police, it all started when they responded to a burglary alarm near the intersection of Extension Road and Broadway Road just before 10 p.m.

When they reached the apartment, they met 27-year-old Alaijia James.

Officers asked James if she lived in the house, to which she replied “no.”

When a police officer attempted to approach James, she clenched her car keys into a fist and reportedly began attacking the officer.

The officer had numerous cuts on his face.

Court documents show that two additional officers arrived during the attack.

While the three officers attempted to arrest James, she allegedly scratched the second officer on the arm and kicked the third officer in the groin.

James was eventually tasered and arrested by officers.

None of the officers had to be taken to the hospital.

James faces several charges, including three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, aggravated assault with a dangerous object and criminal damage.
