Philadelphia Phillies probable pitchers and starting lineups vs. Atlanta Braves, July 6

After winning the series opener Friday 8-6 on Apple TV+, the Philadelphia Phillies (58-30) are hoping to take the series against the Atlanta Braves (47-39) Saturday at Truist Park. The Phillies enter play today with a 10.0-game lead in the NL East and can’t leave Atlanta with a lead of less than 8.0 games at this point.

Starting pitcher Aaron Nola held the Braves to five hits in six innings, allowing two home runs that allowed the Braves to score three runs against him. He struck out eight batters and walked two. Trea Turner once again powered the Phillies offense. He hit two home runs off Braves starter Max Fried, both two-run homers, driving in four in the game. One home run traveled 459 feet, the longest of his career.

Orion Kerkering pitched a clean seventh inning before Jose Alvarado struggled in the eighth. The left-hander allowed a three-run home run to Marcell Ozuna to give the Braves some hope, but Jeff Hoffman closed the door in the ninth for his eighth save.
