Thompson man arrested for trespassing and burglary after breaking into basement of his home

THOMPSON, Connecticut (WTNH) – A man was arrested Thursday in Thompson on trespassing charges after he walked through the backyards of private homes and broke into one.

Police responded to Brandy Hill Road around 11:40 a.m. after receiving reports of a man wandering through backyards in the neighborhood. While responding, it was reported that the man may have entered one of the homes through a basement window.


A sniffer dog was able to track the man to a house down the street. Christopher Sargent, 36, was found hiding in a small room in the basement of the house behind the washing machine, police said.

He faces charges of burglary, drug trafficking and trespassing.
