Retired police chief arrested for sexual assault of girl near Neyveli | Chennai News

CUDDALORE: The all-women Neyveli police on Tuesday arrested a retired police chief for sexually harassing a 10-year-old girl in a village near Neyveli in Tamil Nadu. The arrested man was identified as T Krishnamoorthy, 71.

When the girl was playing outside his house, Krishnamoorthy spoke to her in a vulgar manner and asked her if she wanted to marry him or his grandson. He took her to the terrace of his house and sexually abused her.

The minor girl managed to escape, came home and told her mother about the incident. Her mother filed a complaint with the all-women Neyveli police force.

Police have booked him under Sections 9 (aggravated sexual assault), 9 (m) (whoever commits sexual assault on a child under 12 years of age) and 10 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act ( Pocso) accused.
