Woman found dead in her home in Olathe, Kansas, relative in custody

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Olathe police are investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead in a home Saturday night.

According to OPD, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of East Oakview Street shortly before 6 p.m. to investigate a death.


When officers arrived, they found an unconscious 72-year-old white woman with “significant injuries.” She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A 40-year-old man, a relative of the woman, was taken into custody and held for 48 hours for investigation purposes, the OPD said.

Officials said public safety was not at risk and everyone involved had been contacted.
