Man held for three months for raping his 12-year-old daughter

Ballia (UP): A man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping his 12-year-old daughter over the course of three months, officials said.

According to police, the girl had already informed her mother about her father’s actions a few days ago.

She then went to the police and told them that the girl’s father had been raping her for the past three months. He also threatened her to keep quiet, said Station House Officer (SHO) Dharamveer Singh.

Based on the mother’s complaint, a case has been registered under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Singh said.

The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway, Singh added.
