Major investigation into illegal cannabis sales in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN – Twenty businesses were arrested in Middletown on Thursday for illegally selling cannabis.

The city police were assisted by the State Office of Cannabis Management, the State Department of Taxation and Finance, and city regulatory and fire inspectors.

Fifteen search warrants were executed for the illegal sale of cannabis at the following businesses: The Tree House (18 Dolson Avenue), Right Stop (94 Wickham Avenue), AA Deli (154 Wickham Avenue), Smoke and Vape (207 Dolson Avenue), Smoker’s Choice (157 Dolson Avenue), Smoker’s Corner (107 Academy Avenue), Jiny Fix my Nails (30 CR 78), D&K Groceries (95A North Street), Up & Smoke (5 South Street), Middletown Smoke Shoppe (14 Railroad Avenue),

Citgo (100 Monhagen Avenue), Sunoco (154 Dolson Avenue), BP (139 Wickham Avenue), Exxon (1 Fairlawn Avenue) and Sunoco (210 Wickham Avenue).

The Office of Cannabis Management posted signs at 12 of these establishments stating that illegal cannabis had been seized. The State Department of Taxation & Finance also revoked the tobacco licenses of two establishments.

Officers arrested 19 people for selling cannabis and seized a total of 333.72 pounds of cannabis, cannabinoids, cannabinoid hemp, cannabis flower, cannabis products, cannabis-infused products, hemp and hemp extract products.

Five establishments were found to be compliant: Park Circle Mart (203 North Street), Snoods Deli (36 James Street), Jet Mart (236 East Main Street), Sam’s Mart (88 Academy Avenue) and Budget Express (2 Dolson Avenue).
