Man shot in Howell store; shooter arrested at scene

A man was shot and killed in a store in Howell.

The fatal shooting occurred on Friday (June 28) at 5:30 p.m. in the 100 block of West Grand River Avenue.

Howell police officials said they found the white man dead inside the building from a gunshot wound.

Police said the shooter had been arrested but the crime scene was secured because it was expected to be an active crime scene for several hours during the investigation.

Howell officials stressed that there was no danger to the public, that the shooting did not occur near the Balloonfest event, and that it was in no way connected to the event.

This was apparently an isolated case and all parties involved are currently cooperating with the investigation.
