Buffalo is eyeing this Carolina Hurricanes player

With the 2024 NHL Draft two days away and free agents starting next week, rumors are rife regarding NHL teams. As for the Buffalo Sabres, this will be a crucial offseason. With the potential Jeff Skinner buyout announced, the Sabers are linked to a few notable free agents.

However, the fanbase is tired of them being interested in players. It is time to take actions that speak louder than words. Adding to the Sabres rumor, Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas is Buffalo-bound according to Pierre LeBrun.

Looking at his stats, he could be a good fit for the Sabres. In 77 games played with the Hurricanes last year, Necas recorded 24 goals and 29 assists. During the playoffs, he scored four goals and recorded nine assists in the 11 games he played against New York teams.

Not only can Martin score and produce offensively, but he also plays a position Buffalo needs, at center. According to StatMuseNecas has won 34.1% of the games he has played in 2023-24. Adams said he is looking to add a pivot in the offseason, particularly on the third line. With Tage Thompson and Dylan Cozens as the top two pivots, Necas could be the ideal candidate for the third-line pivot spot.

If the Sabers want Necas, they will have to trade him. The center is a restricted free agent as his AAV is $3,000,000. Could the 11th overall pick be in play? Most likely. As in the tweet at the beginning, a potential trade could take place this Friday during the draft if Necas is dealt.

I know fans are tired of the rumors and want to see something happen, but if Adams trades for Necas, he could help end the playoff drought.
