Two injured in car-motorcycle accident in the town of Negaunee

NEGAUNEE, MI – Two people were hospitalized Tuesday evening following a car/motorcycle crash in Negaunee.

According to city police, it happened around 10 p.m. on US-41 in front of the Dollar General. A motorcycle driven by a 38-year-old man from Marquette was traveling east on the highway when a Dodge Journey driven by a 36-year-old man from Ishpeming attempted to turn into the Dollar General parking lot and pulled in front of him.

The driver of the motorcycle and a 5-year-old passenger from the car were taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of their injuries. The driver of the car was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The driver of the Dodge Journey was responsible for the accident because he failed to yield the right of way.

The City of Negaunee Police Department was assisted on scene by the City of Negaunee Fire Department, Michigan State Police, City of Ishpeming Police Department, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, UPHS-EMS and Anttila’s Towing.
