Kidneys removed from a brain-dead accident victim in Tiruppur GH and sent to private hospitals in Coimbatore and Salem

On Monday, two kidneys were removed from an accident victim, a woman who had been declared brain dead, at the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruppur.

Pushpalatha (50) of Parapalayam succumbed to head injuries in hospital two days after her accident on Mangalam Road. After family members agreed to donate their organs, a medical team harvested the kidneys, which were sent to two private hospitals: one in Coimbatore and the other in Salem. The hospital authorities paid their last respects as per the state government guidelines before the body was taken for last rites.
