Man arrested after fatal drunk driving accident in Fresno County | YourCentralValley.com

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was arrested following a fatal drunk driving crash in Fresno County, the California Highway Patrol said.

On June 20 at around 12:15 a.m., police say 21-year-old Amadeo Menera of Kerman was driving a 2019 Nissan Versa westbound on Highway 180, west of Cornelia Avenue, and approached the left front of a 2007 Nissan Sentra.


According to the CHP, the driver of the Sentra was traveling east on Highway 180, west of Cornelia Avenue, and approached the left front of the Nissan Versa. Both vehicles collided head-on.

The passenger of the Sentra was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, officials said. The driver of the Sentra suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Menera also suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital by CHP.

During the course of the on-scene investigation, CHP said it was determined that alcohol played a role in this crash. Menera was suspected to be impaired at the time of the crash and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence pending further investigation.
