2 people arrested in Alliance for suspected Ensure theft

“When they were arrested, hundreds more packages of Ensure were discovered in the back of a Penske truck,” Alliance police said.

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Two people from Pennsylvania were arrested Wednesday night at a Marc’s store in the 2400 block of West State Street in Alliance. Police are investigating them for an alleged “coupon scam” in which they are accused of stealing more than $1,600 worth of Ensure coupons.

A Facebook post from the Alliance Police Department said 27-year-old Soud Kanan and 25-year-old Asmaa Kanan of Sharon, Pennsylvania, were both taken into custody around 7:20 p.m.

The suspected Ensure theft occurred at Meijer and Marc’s earlier this month on June 11, according to Alliance police.

“During their arrest, hundreds of additional packages of Ensure were discovered in the back of a Penske truck,” Alliance police said. “The products were believed to have been obtained illegally from Boardman and Salem Marc’s – the investigation is ongoing.”

Both were accused of repeatedly committing theft by deception, which police say is a serious crime.

Alliance Police also thanked the anonymous tipster who provided information on the suspects’ whereabouts.
