Woman killed in car accident

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says a 42-year-old Vernon woman was killed in a car crash in Washington County Wednesday night. According to FHP, the crash occurred on June 18 at approximately 10:25 p.m. on State Road 79 and Charlie Brown Road.

The woman was driving a pickup truck on the inside of the northbound lane of State Road 79 when she made a left turn. The vehicle then entered the grass and then the median. The woman then turned right, causing the truck to re-enter the northbound lanes of State Road 79. The vehicle spun counterclockwise and ended up on the east shoulder of State Road 79.

In addition, the vehicle rolled over several times and came to rest on its side. The woman was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The Washington County Fire Department, Washington County EMS and Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
