First warning days – heat and possible storms

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – After some storms this morning, the sky has cleared up and allowed plenty of sunshine to warm us up again. By 2 p.m., temperatures had already risen to over 30 degrees. If it continues to warm up, it may reach 32 degrees. Today is a First day of alarm due to excessive temperatures in the afternoon and a possible second wave of storms.

A severe thunderstorm watch has also been issued this afternoon for Dane, Jefferson, Lafayette, Green, Rock and Walworth counties, lasting until 8 p.m. Any thunderstorms could be strong to severe, bringing damaging winds and hail, as well as an isolated risk of tornadoes. Development is mainly limited to our southern, eastern and central counties. These storms could also dampen the high temperatures somewhat, while in our western counties, continued clear skies today could bring temperatures of 90 degrees or more and higher heat index values.

First alarm days On Monday and Tuesday, afternoon temperatures will also be extreme, reaching up to 35 degrees Celsius, with the heat index reaching values ​​of almost 38 degrees Celsius. The most dangerous time of day is between 2 and 6 p.m. Limit your time outdoors, drink plenty of water and walk your pets on grassy areas, not on dark asphalt or concrete. There may also be isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

There will be slight changes from mid to late week, with temperatures dropping back above 25 degrees, but it will be mostly cloudy, and there will be more showers and thunderstorms on each of these days.
