The McHenry Huntington Bank was robbed by a suspect who left the baby home alone: ​​Police – NBC Chicago

A man in north suburban McHenry was arrested after he allegedly robbed a bank while leaving his 9-month-old baby home alone, officials said.

Peter Sova, 36, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, theft and child abandonment, police said in a news release.

At approximately 10:44 a.m., McHenry Police Department officers were called to Huntington Bank for a reported armed robbery. Investigators determined Sova walked into the bank, handed the teller a note demanding money and brandished what the teller thought was a gun, authorities said.

After the robbery, police located Sova in a field at the Church of the Holy Apostles, 5211 W. Bull Valley Road, police said. During the investigation, police learned that the 36-year-old had left his 9-month-old child home alone, authorities said.

Officers went to his home to check on the child and took the baby into custody. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified and the baby was released to his mother, officials said.
