Police clear driver of responsibility in fatal motorcycle crash on Outer Drive

CASPER, Wyoming – No charges have been filed against the driver of a passenger vehicle struck by a motorcycle on Outer Drive on Friday, May 31, according to police officials.

Despite life-saving measures by police and emergency services, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to a CPD statement on Wednesday.

The accident near Southwest Wyoming Boulevard and Tranquility Way was reported shortly after 6 p.m. on May 31. The road was closed in both directions after midnight as the Wyoming Highway Patrol investigated.

Casper Police Department spokeswoman Amber Freestone told Oil City News on Monday that the passenger vehicle was traveling westbound and turning left onto Tranquility Way when the eastbound motorcycle struck the passenger side rear quarter panel.

Police have not charged the driver of the passenger vehicle, and the speed of the motorcycle appears to be a contributing factor, Freestone said. She added that the road where the crash occurred is not visible to eastbound traffic because the road slopes east of the traffic light on South Poplar Street.

“The individuals involved and their families have been given access to our on-site victim support volunteers and will receive available services,” the release said. “Your Casper Police Department family extends our condolences to the family and friends affected by this incident.”
