The Atlanta Humane Society offers community service opportunities to those who need documented hours to:

A club or civic organization

Please note that you must be 18 years or older to participate in community service.

If you would like to participate in our community service, you must first register and attend this short one-hour orientation at our West Midtown shelter. We ask that you arrive for orientation 15-20 minutes early to complete paperwork. Latecomers will not be accepted and you will need to pre-register via this Eventbrite page.

What are the requirements and what should I bring?

For community service ordered by the court:

We can only accept traffic, DUI citations and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Please bring photo ID and proof of your citation (documentation verifying the type of citation you received, required hours, and the name/number of any caseworker or attorney you may have) to the ‘orientation.

For academic community or civic organization service:

Bring a photo ID and applicable school or club documents or contact information for verification during orientation.

Once you have attended a community service orientation session, you will receive a link to register for your community service hours. These schedules are available 7 days a week, including public holidays.

Our community service volunteers help:

Cleaning the speakers

Wash the dishes

Folding laundry

Newspaper shredding

Filling water dishes

And various other tasks assigned
