Teenager on school trip lured into cabin by three men on cruise and raped

A young schoolgirl is said to have been raped by three Frenchmen on a cruise. The Italian schoolgirl was travelling on a cruise ship that stopped at six locations in the Balearic Islands and the Tyrrhenian Sea when the suspects boarded in Marseille.

The victim had come on board a few days earlier with her classmates as part of a school trip. It is alleged that the three French suspects lured the girl into her cabin, locked the door and attacked her.

She later reported the incident to the ship’s captain, who alerted authorities before docking in Genoa – where the men were arrested. The ship was sealed off, with no passengers allowed to disembark while Italian police arrested the suspects.

The men were subsequently questioned and video surveillance recordings from the ship are being evaluated as part of the investigation.

The ship continued its journey, stopping in Ibiza and Sicily, according to Mail Online. This incident comes a month after police in Mallorca arrested a cruise ship employee accused of raping a British holidaymaker.

The Kenyan was arrested when the ship from Naples, Italy, docked in the island’s capital, Palma. The ship they were on was identified as MSC Fantasia.

The arrest took place on Friday morning. The passenger claimed to have been raped at sea.

The 27-year-old man who was arrested and whose name has not been released is said to be an artist on the cruise ship. The British woman involved in the incident is said to be 33 years old.

It is believed that the suspect was held in a cabin until the ship arrived in Palma.

Yesterday he was released on bail after his court hearing. It is currently unclear whether he will be allowed to leave Mallorca or whether he will have to hand over his passport.

His cell phone is currently being examined by investigators as part of an ongoing investigation.

MSC Cruises, a Swiss-based cruise company based in Geneva, has been asked for comment on the incident. The Guardia Civil in Mallorca has not yet issued an official written statement.
