Kyle Tucker leaves St. Louis Cardinals game

Astros right fielder Kyle Tucker left Monday’s game against the Cardinals in the third inning after fouling his right shin.

Taking his second at-bat, Tucker fouled a 2-0 cutter from Kyle Gibson on his right shin. Tucker fell to the ground in pain and remained on his knees while an Astros trainer came to check on him.

Tucker got up after several minutes and appeared to stay in the game to finish his at-bat. But he tried to run from the on-deck circle to the batter’s box and stopped after a few steps.

Manager Joe Espada removed Tucker from the game, with Mauricio Dubón entering to complete the at-bat. Tucker was tied for second in the majors with 19 home runs and led the Astros with 40 RBIs Monday.
