Waupun Detention Facility Resigns Amid Federal Investigation

Waupun Prison Warden Randall Hepp has resigned effective immediately, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.

Hepp announced his resignation via email to prison staff.

The prison is currently struggling with several problems, including an extended closure and a federal investigation.

Although there is no indication that charges will be brought against Hepp, the investigation led to the resignation or dismissal of several other employees.

The Waupun prison has struggled with a shortage of guards for years, and four inmates have died since June of last year.
