Mass shooting in Akron, Ohio, leaves one dead and at least 26 injured

On Sunday, police investigated a mass shooting in Akron, Ohio, that left at least 26 people injured and one man dead.

Authorities said the shooting occurred in southeast Akron after midnight. Witnesses and police said a street party was taking place in the area before the shooting, but investigators have not yet released a motive, according to WEWS-TV.

Police said they received several 911 calls about the shooting and many victims were taken to hospitals in private vehicles. WEWS, citing police, said the man killed was 27 years old.

Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, police began investigating a shooting at Ballers Hookah Lounge and Cigar Bar early Sunday that left two people dead and seven others injured. The shooting in the Penn Hills neighborhood east of Pittsburgh occurred just before 3 a.m. Investigators say several victims walked to nearby hospitals, where one person remained in critical condition.

“Preliminary information indicates that an altercation occurred inside the bar and multiple individuals opened fire,” Allegheny County police said in a statement.
