Former Haas team boss criticizes Kevin Magnussen for incident on the first lap of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Kevin Magnussen collided with the rear of Sergio Perez’s RB20 during the race in Monaco.

Guenther Steiner, the former Haas team boss, was criticised for the accident on the first lap of the Monaco Grand Prix. Magnussen tried to overtake after the first corner of the track and collided with Perez.

The Haas F1 team had a disappointing season, scoring just seven points in eight races. They had hoped for a strong performance at the Monaco GP, but Magnussen’s first-lap crash with Perez also affected his teammate.

Steiner expressed his disappointment with Magnussen’s actions, calling them stupid and unnecessary. After 10 years with the team, Steiner left Haas at the start of this season.

According to Steiner, a driver is unlikely to score points in a race like Monaco if he starts last, so Magnussen’s move, which also affected Nico Hülkenberg, was unwise. The Haas F1 team will focus on minimising mistakes in future races to improve its position in the constructors’ championship.

Steiner shared his thoughts on Alpine’s driver search for the 2025 season. Rumours have it that the Enstone-based team is considering hiring Mick Schumacher, but Steiner believes they should consider other options.

During Steiner’s tenure as team boss, Schumacher drove for Haas in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. However, his involvement in several accidents resulted in significant damage costs, so Steiner advises Alpine to give other capable drivers a chance.
