Police respond to brawl and armed man at Mt. Pleasant funeral home

Mt. Pleasant police arrested five people after a violent brawl at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home just after 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The funeral home manager told WISN 12 News that tensions boiled over between attendees of a highly emotional funeral service and a fight broke out. According to the funeral director, 150 people attended the funeral and about 15 to 20 people were actively involved in the brawl. The initial call was about a fight and a man brandishing a gun, according to Mt. Pleasant police. The funeral director said he saw the man point the gun at the ceiling. Officers arrived, spoke with witnesses and arrested the man with the gun. Four other people who were also involved in the brawl were later arrested. South Shore Fire Department transported one person who was in custody and had a medical emergency to the hospital. He was released and taken to the Racine County Jail. Multiple agencies responded, including the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, City of Racine Police Department, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, Kenosha Police Department, Caledonia Police Department and South Shore Fire Department.

The funeral home director told WISN 12 News that tensions among attendees at a highly emotional funeral service boiled over and fights broke out. According to the funeral director, 150 people attended the funeral and about 15 to 20 people were actively involved in the fighting.

Officers arrived, interviewed witnesses and arrested the man with the gun. Four other people who were also involved in the fight were later arrested.

South Shore Fire transported a patient in custody to the hospital with a medical emergency. He was released and transported to the Racine County Jail.

Multiple agencies responded, including the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, City of Racine Police Department, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, Kenosha Police Department, Caledonia Police Department and South Shore Fire Department.
