Atlanta Braves Probable Pitchers and Starting Lineups vs. Boston Red Sox, May 7

The Atlanta Braves return home for a short two-game series with the Boston Red Sox. The Braves are coming off a disappointing 1-5 road trip where they couldn’t solve the Mariners and Dodgers.

Watching the offensive struggles of a team that has dominated in 2024 has been difficult. They had some bad luck but were also victims of poor approaches at the plate. That needs to change if they have any chance of regaining the top spot in the division. They are currently 3 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies.

The team is fortunate to have two of their best pitchers in this series to give them the best chance of getting back on track. However, all of this means nothing if the offense can’t score points.

Let’s take a look at the starting lineups and pitching for tonight’s game.

Kutter Crawford (2-1, 1.56 ERA) has been a huge surprise for Boston and has the second-best ERA in baseball. He allowed just seven earned runs with 13 walks and 40 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched. Crawford’s last outing was a seven-inning, four-hit, two-run performance with two walks and six strikeouts against the Giants.

Reynaldo Lรณpez (2-1, 1.50 ERA) is off to an incredibly good start for Atlanta and has proven to the Braves that they were right to let him be a part of the rotation. His 1.50 ERA cannot be mentioned as the second-best ERA among all starting pitchers, as he has yet to meet the innings requirements. However, we would be remiss if we didn’t talk about his player’s impressive ERA.

His last start against the Mariners wasn’t his best, but he still completed five innings allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. I hope he can continue this first success against Boston tonight.
