EMERYVILLE – Police have arrested a woman who allegedly stabbed a man in the neck while dining outside at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Emeryville. The attack was described as unprovoked.

The 35-year-old Oakland resident was taken into custody at 7:45 a.m. Monday, police said. She was booked into Alameda County’s Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon (not a firearm), police said.

The stabbing occurred on May 20 at the Chick-fil-A restaurant at 1525 40th St., and officers from Emeryville and Oakland both responded.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video that showed the woman slitting the victim’s throat with an unknown object.

The stabbing caused only minor injuries. The unidentified victim refused treatment in the restaurant.
