Lanier Islands Pkwy exit ramp closed on I-985 South

Just before noon Saturday, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office announced that the I-985 southbound ramp at Exit 8 Lanier Islands Pkwy./Friendship Rd. was closed.

The closure is a result of wrong-way drivers turning to avoid traffic jams on the motorway.

The incident occurred due to an accident at the intersection of I-985 and I-85. A tree landed on a vehicle. All southbound lanes are closed at the accident scene.

Gwinnett County Police are investigating the accident.

There is no timetable for the reopening of the ramp.

Drivers can either use Spout Springs Rd. to connect to Friendship Rd. or alternatively use SR 13 (Buford Hwy.).
