One dead in shooting at bar in Monroe County

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pennsylvania – State police in Monroe County said one person was killed after a shooting occurred at a bar near East Stroudsburg Friday night.

The shooting occurred just before 11 p.m. at My Place Bar & Grill on Milford Road in Middle Smithfield Township, state police said. The victim — whose identity was not released — later died at Lehigh Valley Pocono Medical Center.

As of Saturday morning, it was still unclear what had led to the shooting and whether anyone was in custody. State police initially released few details and did not answer any further questions.

The Major Case Team of Troop N and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office are investigating. Troop N covers Monroe, Carbon, Columbia and Lower Luzerne counties.

Attempts to reach District Attorney Mike Mancuso for comment were not immediately successful.
