Buffalo woman accused of caging her 2-year-old son – Finger Lakes Daily News

State police arrested a Buffalo woman for allegedly caging her two-year-old son.

On February 8, Troopers and SP Clarence’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation executed a felony arrest warrant on Chadduck Ave in the City of Buffalo for a prior crime against Naesha Lumpkin.

While at the residence, it was determined that Lumpkin was there. The investigation determined that a 2-year-old boy was in a separate bedroom. The child was in a makeshift cage, a playpen covered with a piece of crib attached on three sides to the top, not allowing the child to stand or get out of the playpen. The cage and the 2-year-old child were covered in human feces. There was fecal matter on the walls. The child and bedding were soaked in urine and feces.

Investigators on scene contacted Erie County Child Protective Services and AMR Ambulance for medical assistance. The 2-year-old was taken to Oishei Children’s Hospital.

Lumpkin was transported to SP Clarence for processing of the arrest warrant and an additional charge of child endangerment. She was issued a citation to appear for the City of Buffalo Court on February 12, 2024.

While at Oishei Children’s Hospital, the child underwent a series of medical evaluations and was found to have bruising on his face and body. The 2-year-old was also found to have two healing fractured ribs, meaning the fractures likely occurred 10 days to two weeks ago based on assessments.

When Lumpkin was asked about the 2-year-old’s injuries, she said the child fell down the stairs in late December 2023, early January 2024. Lumpkin went on to explain that the child was crying as a result of the incident, but Naesha did it. do not seek professional medical assistance.

As of May 2024, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been assisted by the Erie County Prosecutor’s Office and no updated charges will be filed at this time.
