Westheimer bus stop crash: Woman shows signs of intoxication after crashing into 2 people, killing 1, Houston police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A woman driving a vehicle showed signs of intoxication when she crashed into two people near a METRO bus stop, killing one of them, Houston police said Monday.

According to HPD, officers received a call about the crash in Westheimer near Briarhurst at 7:24 p.m.

The initial call described a single-vehicle collision with a light pole, with one fatality confirmed.

Police later provided more details, adding that a woman in her 40s was driving eastbound on Westheimer at a high rate of speed when she struck two pedestrians who were near a bus shelter with others. who were waiting.

One person died while the other was seriously injured, police said.

HPD added that the driver was stable and taken into custody.

Police have not released details about the charges against the woman.
