Russell Brand is accused of rape and sexual abuse in a new report

Four women – including one who was just 16 years old at the time – have accused actor and comedian Russell Brand of sexual assault and rape in a new report.

The allegations against Brand were published in an article by The Times UK and an episode of Channel 4’s investigative show broadcasts which is due to air in the UK on Saturday evening

The allegations span a seven-year period from 2006 to 2013, during which Brand was married to singer Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012.

Before the article was published and the episode premiered, Brand took to social media on Friday to post a video preemptively defending himself against impending “extremely egregious and aggressive attacks,” which he “absolutely rejects.”

“These allegations relate to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the cinema. And as I detailed in my books, I was very, very promiscuous,” Brand said in the video.

“During this period of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent then – almost too transparent – ​​and I’m transparent about it now too.”

Brand, who in recent years has moved from acting and comedy to podcasting about anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theories, continued: “I don’t mind them using my books and my stand-up to talk about my promiscuous, consensual behavior in the world “What I seriously refute are these very, very serious criminal allegations. It is also worth noting that there are witnesses whose statements directly contradict the narrative that these two mainstream media outlets appear to be trying to construct as part of what I believe is a coordinated attack.”
