Fake doctor who sexually assaulted two patients in his New Jersey apartment is convicted

A man who ran a fake medical practice in his home and sexually abused two of his patients has been sentenced to prison.

Orger Sibaja-Bolanos, 67, of Old Bridge, was sentenced to 10 years in prison earlier this month, the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release Tuesday. His wife, who helped him run the front company, was sentenced to three years’ probation with a requirement that she serve 364 days in county jail at the end of her probation.

Sibaja-Bolanos had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and his wife pleaded guilty to conspiracy to practice medicine without a license.

Sibaja-Bolanos was arrested in July 2022 after a woman who came to his home to receive anti-inflammatory injections said he sexually assaulted her during the treatment. While investigating the incident, investigators also found that he was operating an unlicensed medical practice at his apartment in the Brentwood Gardens apartment complex in Old Bridge and was not a licensed physician, officials said.

Less than a month later, a second woman told police that she had come to his apartment for similar treatment and had also been sexually abused.

Weeks after the second victim came forward, investigators discovered that his wife had been taking calls and scheduling appointments for the sham deal, leading to her arrest.

One of the victims, who was in pain as a result of a recent car accident, told authorities that Sibaja-Bolanos ordered her to remove her clothes and underwear so he could massage her sore areas, charging documents say.

After his release, Sibaja-Bolanos will have to register as a sex offender and will be on probation for life.
