several LGUs suspend Monday classes

MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units have announced class cancellations for Monday, July 22, 2024, due to the State of the Nation Address (SONA) and adverse weather conditions caused by Tropical Storm Carina.

In Malabon, the local government has ordered a suspension of classes at all levels in both public and private schools. The decision, announced on Sunday, July 22, was made in response to the rains brought by the southwest monsoon, which are expected to become more intense with the approaching storm.

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla also announced a suspension of classes at all levels in the province of Cavite. The announcement was made this morning through his X-Account (Twitter).

Quezon City announced on Saturday, July 20, that classes in private schools will be suspended so that residents can watch President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s SONA broadcast and to avoid the expected heavy traffic around the Batasan Pambansa Complex. The city government has also suspended the activities of the Brigada Eskuwela, which is aimed at preparing for the upcoming school year.

Bataan Governor Joet Garcia announced on Sunday evening, July 21, that all classes in Bataan would be suspended on Monday.
