A mother survived a horror attack by her gangster ex-boyfriend after she says he pushed her off the road and knocked her unconscious. Amanda Gensman, 38, and Blake Wade Haggerton, 36, split up and she was on her way to collect her belongings near his home when she collided with a car. Haggerton was behind the wheel – and stalled her VW Beetle until it wouldn’t start, on the country road in Kerry County, Texas, US, Amanda claims. He got out and ran towards Amanda’s car – which she described as “the scariest thing ever”. Haggerton then began his brutal attack – smashing her driver’s window and punching Amanda in the face 12 times while she begged him to stop, she says. The former wine salesman dragged her into the road and left her there while she was unconscious. Amanda – whose legs no longer worked – woke up and desperately dragged herself back to her car. But then Haggerton carried her to his car while she screamed for help, she says. Amanda claims Haggerton threatened her as they drove around before dropping her off at her mother’s house and fleeing the scene. Amanda says she managed to convince him to leave her by saying she “loved him” and promising to keep quiet about the attack. He was later arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon. Haggerton initially pleaded not guilty but accepted a deal last month. He will be sentenced in October.
