According to the Niger army, seven civilians were killed in an extremist attack

The Nigerian army said on Wednesday that “terrorists” killed seven civilians in an attack on a village in the west of the country this week.

“Terrorists on motorcycles attacked the village of Dosso Kouregou, killing seven civilians and stealing livestock,” the army said in a statement, without giving the exact date.

It was further reported that anti-terror forces had killed 13 “terrorists” and arrested 29 others in the region before the attack.

Dosso Kouregou is located near Kokorou in the western Tillaberi region.

Armed groups killed 20 soldiers in Kokorou on June 25, triggering a deadly military response.

The region is located near the border with Mali and Burkina Faso and is a haven for jihadist groups with links to the Islamic State and al-Qaeda.
