Police say man confessed to sexually abusing a child – The Tri-City Record

Said he was “lonely” when he “touched” a 7-year-old girl

Andy Tsosie, 60, of Farmington, allegedly admitted to police that he sexually abused a 7-year-old girl, police said.

A Farmington man was arrested for sex crimes against children.

Andy Tsosie, 60, has been charged with sexual penetration of a minor under the age of 13 and sexual contact with a minor under the age of 13. The charge is related to the alleged sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl.

Tsosie admitted to police that he sexually abused the child at least three times and told police he was “lonely and going through a tough time,” according to the arrest warrant affidavit.

The alleged abuse was reported by the daughter of Tsosie’s ex-wife, who reportedly has custody of the child. The woman discovered the abuse after allegedly finding sexually explicit photos on his phone at Tsosie’s apartment in the 2600 block of North Dustin Avenue, the affidavit states.

The woman admitted to police that she had questioned some of the children about Tsosie’s behavior, and the 7-year-old spoke of three separate instances in which Tsosie allegedly attacked her, the affidavit states.

The first incident reportedly occurred on June 27, when Tsosie drove the girl to the River Trail parking lot in Farmington, where he touched the girl’s private parts and said he “wanted to squeeze and touch her all over,” the affidavit states.

Tsosie reportedly also touched the child while driving.

The next time he allegedly touched her was on July 5 at his home. In addition to touching the girl, he allegedly used a “back massager” on the child’s private parts and “forced” her to touch him as well, the affidavit states.

She stated “that she is very afraid of Andy,” the affidavit states.

The third incident reportedly occurred on the Navajo reservation and was turned over to the Navajo Nation Police for investigation, the police affidavit said.

Tsosie was arrested on July 12 and booked into the San Juan County Detention Center. He was released on July 15 and will have a preliminary hearing in San Juan County Magistrate Court on July 24.
