Virginia woman arrested in Myrtle Beach after allegedly driving to the beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Police here in Myrtle Beach arrested a Virginia woman after she allegedly drove a car onto the beach Tuesday.

Lauren Hodge, 34, of Galax, Virginia, is charged with violating ordinance/prohibiting driving on beaches/public marshes, driving without a license and reckless driving, records show.

Myrtle Beach Police were called to the area of ​​10th Avenue South and 11th Avenue South around 2 a.m. for a “beach-related” incident.

According to her police report, Hodge drove her car onto the beach “at such a high rate of speed” that she drove to the waterline at low tide.

As she drove across the sand, people on the beach began to run away, fearing they would be hit by her car, the report said.

According to the report, police later learned that Hodge’s Virginia driver’s license had been revoked.

Investigators arrested Hodge at the scene.

Hodge is currently incarcerated in the Myrtle Beach Jail with bail set at $1,325.
