New York State Police investigate school bus crash in upstate New York

New York State Troopers are investigating a school bus crash Monday in upstate New York involving a school bus driver from Boonville, NY, and a 25-year-old man. Troopers say two young passengers, ages 2 and 4, were on the bus at the time of the crash. There were no injuries, police said.

According to police, at approximately 8:25 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, State Police responded to reports of a collision involving a local school bus to Roxboro Circle in the city of Salina, near Syracuse.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred in front of the Orchard Estates Apartments on Roxboro Circle when a red 2002 Pontiac, driven by 25-year-old Flynn R. Hughes-Trombley of Syracuse, backed up and collided with a Liverpool Central School school bus driven by 58-year-old Robert J. Miller of Boonville, NY.

Police said there were also passengers on the bus. They say the school bus was occupied by 70-year-old Kenneth McMillan, a school bus attendant from Syracuse, along with two male children, ages two and four. No injuries were reported, police said.

According to the New York State Police, Hughes-Trombley received a ticket for unsafe backing.

State police were assisted at the scene by the North Area Volunteer Ambulance Corp.
