Waterbury man seriously injured in moped accident

A Waterbury resident is in critical condition following an accident involving a moped and a car at the intersection of West Main and Riverside Streets in Waterbury.

WATERBURY, Connecticut – On July 13 at approximately 10 p.m., Waterbury Police responded to an accident that occurred at the intersection of West Main Street and Riverside Street.

According to police, a 51-year-old Waterbury resident was riding his moped when he was struck by a car. He was taken to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old woman, also from Waterbury, was not injured. Other passengers were involved in the accident, police said.

The Waterbury Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating the incident. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the CRU at (203) 346-3975.
