Kanpur: A woman accuses a man of luring her into a love trap, sexually exploiting her and then pressurising her to convert to Christianity. The matter came to light when the woman filed an application with Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Harish Chander on Monday, who directed ACP Panki to investigate the matter and submit a report on the matter soon. The woman, a resident of Panki police station quarters, alleged that a man living on the third floor of the house where she resides, befriended her, lured her into a love trap and promised to marry her. On April 28, 2024, he took her to Lucknow and married her, but gradually he started pressurising her to convert to Christianity. When she refused, he sexually exploited her several times, the woman alleged. ACP Panki Shweta Kumari said the complainant and the accused are both husband and wife. “After an argument between them, the police intervened and clarified the matter on June 18, 2024. We have a compromise letter with us which states that both of them got married on April 28, 2024, which was a love marriage,” the ACP said. “On June 18, 2024, after an argument between the two over an issue, they complained to the police but the matter was again clarified and they said they had reached an amicable settlement. Along with the signatures of the witnesses, the settlement agreement also includes the signatures of the wife and the husband,” the ACP further said, adding, “Now, an investigation is underway as to why the woman has made these allegations again.”
