3 Buffalo Bills Who Could Win Major NFL Awards in 2024

After another divisional round exit last season, the Buffalo Bills are in great shape. Some would say they are in the midst of a rebuild given the major changes made this offseason, but the Bills are far from a rebuild. Josh Allen is in his prime, the young players stepped up last season, and there is continuity in coaching. Over the past two years, the Bills have failed to live up to expectations. After rising to the ranks of the league’s top teams, they have yet to reach the Super Bowl and have only reached the conference championship once in the past four seasons.

The 2024 season will be different for the Bills. This is a new-look team, but with the same leadership. Bills fans have every right to be concerned about the uncertainties, but they should also be excited to see what this team can produce.

According to sources, the Bills aren’t a sure thing to go far next season. However, once the doubters start talking, that’s when the Bills shine.

We look at three Buffalo Bills who could win major NFL awards in 2024.

The Bills found their running attack, which was ultimately not led by Josh Allen. Running back James Cook stepped into the starting role that Devin Singletary had the previous year and made the most of the opportunity. Although he only had two rushing touchdowns, Cook became the first Bills running back to rush for over 1,000 yards since LeSean McCoy. He also served as a receiving weapon for the passing attack, with 44 receptions for 445 yards and four touchdowns.

If Cook can continue his momentum from last year, he’ll be in the running to be a finalist for this award. It’s also important to consider that with Joe Brady at the helm, we’ve seen just how involved Cook has been in both the running and passing game.

The Bills were dealt a major blow in Week 5 when they lost their All-Pro linebacker for the season. Matt Milano is the most important player on this defense due to the fact that he has a high IQ and knows where to be at all times. It seems like every time the player is on top, he is either close to the ball or he ends up being the one making the play. Milano earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2022 and was on pace to repeat a season last year until his injury.

If Milano can stay healthy this season, he has a good chance of winning the Comeback Player of the Year award. Not to mention, his linebackers coach, Bobby Babich, was promoted to defensive coordinator this offseason, and Babich is part of the reason Milano had a breakout year in 2022.

In three of the last four seasons, Josh Allen has finished in the top five in MVP voting. It’s only a matter of time before he finally wins the award, and he has a good chance of doing so in 2024. Say what you will about his turnovers, he’s a dynamic player who plays like the best player on the field and that’s not close. He hasn’t missed a game since his rookie season and has grown as a player to the point where the Bills are convinced they don’t have a true number one receiver.

Allen will always have his detractors and of course, he still has some games where he looks off. However, we can’t ignore the presence he has when he’s healthy. Now that he’s not under pressure in the running game, it will allow him to continue to grow as a passer in this league and he has the chance to elevate his receivers. Nothing would be better for Allen than to set career highs in most, if not all, categories and lead the Bills to another division championship and even a Super Bowl.
