Daily Forecast | By First Alert Chief Meteorologist Riley Hale

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Our weather pattern will finally change this weekend, bringing back higher storm chances and seasonally warmer temperatures. There is a slight risk of flooding with storms through the weekend. Next week is expected to be very seasonal with heat, humidity and the possibility of some occasional afternoon thunderstorms.

Today, the intense summer heat and humidity are back, with highs reaching 35 to 40 degrees. A heat warning is in effect until 8 p.m. with heat index values between 40 and 46 degrees. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible until midnight. Nighttime lows are above average, falling to 24 to 25 degrees early Saturday.

The chance of afternoon thunderstorms is higher this weekend as troughs form aloft and a front stagnates over the region. It will still be hot and humid, with heat index values around 40°C and true highs between 95°F and 100°F. Storms will develop across the region after noon and last into Saturday night. Flooding is a threat across the CSRA on Saturday — heavy rain is expected in storms, and 1-2 inches and more are possible in storms that last several hours. The chance of severe weather will be low, but an isolated warning cannot be ruled out — mainly due to damaging winds.

Sunday will likely be similar to Saturday with a high chance of rain, but highs will be cooler and will struggle to reach 90 as skies remain cloudy most of the day and rain begins to fall before temperatures can rise. There will still be a slight risk of flooding from downpours across the region on Sunday.

Seasonal summer weather will persist for most of next week, with morning lows around 75 degrees, highs in the 90s and 100s, and daily chances for sudden afternoon storms. Stay here for updates!
