Medical Heat Warning for Tulsa through July 4 | News

TULSA, Oklahoma – A medical heat advisory remains in effect for Tulsa and is expected to last through July 4.

Since the heat medical alert was issued last Sunday, EMSA has responded to 36 calls for heat-related illnesses, 21 of which resulted in hospitalization.

FOX23 spoke with Russell Friske of EMSA, who said heat can be dangerous even when the sun isn’t shining.

“When it’s hot, you sweat, and when you sweat, you need to stay hydrated,” Friske said.

Friske also spoke about the dangers of moisture.

“Even though there is no sunlight and the humidity is still high, we need to ensure adequate hydration,” Friske added.

If you plan to attend a fireworks festival on Thursday, Friske recommends bringing a 16-ounce water bottle for every hour you plan to spend outside.
