NYPD investigation into attempted sexual assault in Central Park continues

New York police are continuing to search for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Central Park. A sketch of the suspect was posted on social media last week.

A source close to the NYPD told News 12 that there was confusion regarding the detention of a suspect.

According to the source, a suspect is currently in custody but has been brought in for questioning in another case. This person has nothing to do with the alleged sexual assault case that occurred at the park on June 24.

The incident occurred near 104th Street and West Drive. A 21-year-old woman was in the park when an unknown person attempted to sexually assault her. Police have released a sketch of the suspect sought in the case.

According to police, no arrests have been made so far and investigations are still ongoing.
