Doctor back in court for sexually abusing patients at Missoula hospital

MISSOULA- — A doctor accused of sexually assaulting several patients in the emergency room at Community Medical Center appeared in court again via video Thursday to discuss a date for the next hearing.

Also discussed were details regarding Dr. Tyler James Hurst’s return to Missoula following his discharge from the sex addiction treatment center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The next hearing in this case has been scheduled for July 25, 2024 at 2 p.m.

Dr. Hurst faces a maximum sentence of 85 years to life in prison and a maximum fine of $211,500 for the seven charges against him.

Dr. Hurst is currently charged with four counts of sexual intercourse without consent and three counts of sexual assault. The earliest alleged assault dates back to 2017.

During a hearing on June 20, three other unrelated individuals came forward with allegations of misconduct by Dr. Hurst.

Dr. Hurst is expected to return to Missoula sometime in August after his release from the sex addiction clinic.
