United Airlines flight forced to return on emergency basis after engine cowling incident

United Airlines flight UA325, bound for Denver, had to return to Hartford Windsor Locks Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Connecticut shortly after takeoff because part of the interior panel of its engine cowling was lost.

The Airbus A320 with the registration N490UA landed safely one hour after takeoff. No injuries were reported. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) detected an “abnormal noise” and launched an investigation.

This incident is part of a development; similar problems were reported on Boeing aircraft earlier this year.
