Musical adaptation of Mercilessly beautiful to receive a concert preview at the Edinburgh Fringe

The adaptation is one of more than 1,500 productions announced today by the Edinburgh Fringe.

A further 1,590 performances have been announced for the Edinburgh Fringe in August, including several exciting musical theater offerings.

The new musical adaptation of the cult film Mercilessly beautiful will present a special sneak-peek concert series of ongoing work-in-progress concerts at Pleasance, allowing audiences to follow the show’s development before its fully realized premiere.

Mary Mary Quite the opposite Mary Whitehouse’s story will be shown at SpaceUK, In Sleeping Beauty’s sleep will reinterpret the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale in the Central Hall and premiere the musical comedy Pop off, Michelangelo! Gilded Balloon will explore the friendship between Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.

At the zoo, Non-Player Character: Live Musical in Virtual Reality will bridge the gap between immersive theatre, escape rooms and improvised concert storytelling and in Summerhall Tones: A Hip-Hop Opera will combine the sound centers of hip-hop, grime and drill with the melodrama of opera. At Laughing Horse, Happy medium will tell the story of a psychic medium in 1970s New York.

Chinese legends come to life here Legend of the White Serpent at C Arts, performed with the subtle dance moves of Kunqu, and Korean musical performances are brought to the fore Scissor dance at Greenside. How to Become a Taiwanese: A Musical will play Paradise Green and Florencia Iriondo will premiere her new work, Meet me in Buenos Airesat Underbelly.

For those interested in opera: the Hu Opera Love Bridge at Venue150 will explore the peculiarities of the Shanghai Opera, a production by Bizet Carmen directed by Jacob Zualski will play at Stockbridge Church and at Edinburgh New Town Church The Fringe will premiere a new version of Francis Poulenc’s 1950s opera La Voix Humainewith texts by Jean Cocteau and with the soprano Jennifer Witton.
